About the Role:

The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic business decisions through sound financial management. This role plays a key part in enabling the company’s rapid unit expansion and operational scale by building a high-performing accounting infrastructure. The Controller collaborates cross-functionally to enhance financial systems, implement automation, and uphold compliance in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP; Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Partner with FP&A and operational leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Develop and implement cost accounting for food manufacturing and multi-unit ops; Provide technical accounting guidance.
  • Monitor and manage company cash flow and working capital.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Oversee all accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, tax compliance).
  • Coordinate tax filings with external tax firms; support external audits & liaise with auditors.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team.
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and automation; Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiency with accounting workflows.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3–5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and reporting
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with operations, FP&A, and technology teams
  • Experience leading high-performing teams & accounting function in high-growth environments
  • Familiarity with inventory & cost accounting methodologies
  • Experience with multi-entity structures
  • Proficiency in financial systems (i.e. Sage, Quickbooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills


Preferred Requirements:

  • CPA certification
  • Experience in restaurant, multi-unit retail, or food manufacturing


Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods and participate in meetings with various stakeholders.
