Summary: The competent Nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting, providing routine and complex care while managing long-term goals. They develop their ability to handle clinical contingencies, make appropriate assignments, and delegate to care providers.
- Provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Addresses patients' psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitors effects, and documents care.
- Assesses learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers.
- Meets competency expectations, including onboarding, annual updates, and specific certifications.
- Requires a BSN (preferred), 1+ year of related experience, and licenses such as RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, or ENPC. Certifications must be obtained within specified grace periods.
