The role aims to enhance cost visibility and enable fact-based decision-making across IT and business functions. The ideal candidate will support the Apptio suite of applications, data governance, reporting, and dashboarding needs across various service owners and cost centers. This position requires problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to identify automation opportunities and other process simplifications. The role also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

What You’ll Do:
Apptio Platform Configuration and Administration

  • Serve as a liaison between IT, Finance, and Apptio SMEs to ensure models are accurate, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
  • Maintain cost allocation logic, service hierarchies, and associated metadata to support the Bill of IT.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, workflow management, and enhanced user testing.
Data Integrity and Financial Modeling
  • Extract, validate, and integrate data from systems such as CMDB, general ledger, ITSM, and cloud platforms to support Apptio models.
  • Develop monthly variance and trend analysis using Apptio or Tableau for use by Finance, business, and Technology stakeholders.
  • Ensure that service costing and chargeback models align with financial best practices and IT service delivery frameworks.
Operational Reporting & Metrics
  • Build and enhance dashboards within Apptio or Tableau to communicate cost drivers, KPIs, and service consumption metrics.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, service catalogs, and IT cost transparency models critical to delivering the Bill of IT.

What You’ll Bring:
Required Skills:
  • A bachelor's degree preferred in finance, accounting, information systems, data/business analytics, or a related field.
  • 4-8 years of experience in IT financial management, technology business management, finops, data analytics, cost accounting, or systems support roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Apptio, including any combination of Cost Transparency, Planning, or TargetProcess modules.
  • Understanding of IT service costing, cost allocation, and financial modeling concepts.
  • Proficiency in Excel, data integration, and financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, CMDB, cloud billing, project tracking tools).
  • Ability to work with large data sets across disparate sources (e.g., GL, HR, cloud, on-prem IT).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate technical and financial concepts to both IT and business stakeholders.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing priorities across multiple projects.
Preferred Skills:
  • Apptio certification (e.g., TBM Studio Analyst, Administrator).
  • Experience in IT chargeback/showback models or cloud cost optimization programs.
