As a Locator, you will be the eyes underground-using precision locating equipment to guide bore paths, identify utilities, and protect public infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Operate locating equipment such as DigiTrak F5/F2 or Subsite TK Series to track bore head location and depth.
- Accurately identify and mark underground utilities before and during directional drilling operations.
- Interpret construction drawings, bore plans, utility prints, and 811 locate tickets.
- Collaborate closely with drill operators to guide bore trajectory, avoid underground conflicts, and adjust paths as needed.
- Maintain accurate field documentation including bore logs, utility markings, and footage reports.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and local utility regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Locator or HDD technician.
- Proficiency with underground locating systems (DigiTrak, Subsite, or equivalent).
- In-depth knowledge of telecom and fiber optic construction methodologies.
- Strong understanding of state-specific utility codes and permitting (Texas, Florida, Nevada).
- Experience with One Call/811 ticketing systems and utility avoidance procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret bore profiles, maps, and utility layouts.
- Valid Texas driver's license (CDL Class A or B a plus).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time for projects.
