The qualified nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting, providing routine and complex care while managing long-term goals and delegating tasks as needed.
- Provides nursing care based on the nursing process, assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient needs.
- Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administers medications and treatments following protocols, monitoring for effects and side effects.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Educates patients, families, and caregivers, assessing learning needs and resources.
- Requires a BSN preferred, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and current BLS certification; additional certifications like ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are required or preferred based on the role.
- Participation in orientation, competency validation, and ongoing training is mandatory.
- Work schedule varies; full-time position. Credential renewals have specified grace periods based on experience and certification types.
