Position Summary

ASAE is seeking a strategic and values-driven Vice President of Human Resources to lead the organization’s HR function with a dual focus on regulatory compliance and organizational culture. This executive role is responsible for ensuring that ASAE’s HR practices align with legal standards and best practices while fostering a workplace culture that reflects ASAE’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). The VP of HR will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a champion for employee engagement, ethical practices, and continuous improvement.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee HR audits, policy reviews, and updates to maintain legal and ethical standards.
  • Manage employee relations issues with a focus on risk mitigation and fairness.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for legal counsel on employment-related matters.

Culture and Engagement

  • Lead initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Develop and implement strategies for succession planning, and training and development.
  • Champion ASAE’s DEIB efforts and integrate inclusive practices across all HR functions.
  • Facilitate organizational development initiatives that align with ASAE’s strategic goals.

Talent Management

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Partner with leadership to identify talent needs and develop workforce strategies.
  • Support leadership development and training programs that build internal capacity.

HR Operations and Strategy

  • Lead the HR team in delivering high-quality services and support to staff.
  • Develop and manage the HR budget and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Implement and optimize HR systems, tools, and analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Contribute to organizational strategy as a member of the senior leadership team.

Essential Skills

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior HR role.
  • Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and risk management.
  • Proven success in shaping and sustaining organizational culture and employee engagement.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience in the nonprofit or association sector is a plus.

This job operates in a professional hybrid office environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flex hours are available.
