Wanco Inc. is seeking a Sr. Buyer in our Arvada, CO production facility.
Summary
Wanco Inc. is seeking an experienced industrial manufacturing Sr. Buyer in our
Arvada, CO production facility. The Sr. Buyer has demonstrated buying,
scheduling, vendor management, negotiation, and material planning
experience in an industrial manufacturing environment and experience with
internationally and domestically sourced industrial components, materials,
and assemblies. This position serves as the frontline communication with our
vendors. Responsibilities include sourcing materials, monitoring supplier
approval and performance, monitoring inventory levels, issuing purchase
orders from the ERP system, and negotiating material and freight costs.
Essential Functions
Source materials and packaging, domestically and internationally,
based on quality, cost, and availability.
Monitor supplier approval process and maintain performance records.
Review MRP daily, place orders, generate PO's from the ERP system
and confirm PO's. Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of raw
materials, packaging, finished goods, resale and equipment utilizing
min/max pull ordering and traditional forecast ordering.
Monitor supplier performance and take necessary actions when performance
does not meet expectations.
Implement procedures and policies for department.
Work with our vendors to implement our strategic goals (barcoding,
stocking agreements, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), blanket PO's).
Coordinates necessary product specification revisions and deviations as
needed with suppliers.
Maintain system accuracy, including lead time, pricing, current
supplier information, current purchase order data.
Conduct searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluate
their capabilities, assess risk and qualify as necessary.
Minimize the Total Cost of Ownership associated with the purchase of
goods and services.
Reviews requests for assigned materials, parts, and/or services
and verifies specifications with the requester as necessary.
Assists other departments with problem resolution involving
discrepancies between purchase orders, delivered quantity, quality,
and/or pric
Review and modify demand forecasts for inventory items, purchasing
systems, and reporting tools.
Identify and recommend procedure and process improvements within the
department.
Qualifications
Lean manufacturing and ISO 9001 experience required.
Detailed and demonstrated knowledge and experience with MRP systems,
item attributes, and pull inventory methods.
Extensive knowledge of industrial raw material and electromechanical
assemblies.
Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and
quantities and consider vendor contract terms.
Ability to evaluate market conditions and various suppliers.
Keen eye for detail.
Effective relationship-building skills.
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, supply chain
management, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a purchasing role
Physical Requirements
Certification is preferred, but not required.
Shift: M-F,
Mobility to work in an office and factory setting including the use of
standard equipment, including a computer.
Reporting: This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Salary Range: $75K - $90K per year based on qualifications.
