About This Position

The Network Specialist I supports network operations by monitoring performance, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and maintaining security. Under the guidance of senior network staff, this role ensures the integrity of network systems, responds to security alerts, and actively manages the ticketing system by researching solutions and resolving issues efficiently.

This role requires some on-call work as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • General knowledge equal to 2 years of college
  • 3 years of related experience and/or training
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 19 to 23 months of management experience
    • People and/or project management
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance
  • Identify and troubleshoot connectivity issues
  • Actively monitor the network for security breaches, responding when needed
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.)
  • Collaborate with senior network staff on projects
  • Respond to user requests for network connectivity support
  • Stay up to date on the latest network security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Implement appropriate security measures
  • Assist in maintaining network documentation and diagrams
  • Provide basic training to users on network policies and procedures
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills

Necessary Skills

  • Availability and willingness to work hours in excess of the normal working hour schedule
  • Availability for call-in on problems as required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
