USALCO Modesto Plant, LLC is a major unit within the manufacturing network of a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors. The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently and consistently performs to very high standards.

Job Summary

The person in this role is responsible for coordinating and executing the maintenance activities for the Modesto Site, while assuring compliance is achieved in all company associated policies. The position requires a motivated, detail oriented, and results driven team player who:

  • Incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day activities.
  • Can efficiently maintain chemical process equipment to meet manufacturing requirements and achieve maximum productivity without compromising safety or quality.
  • Will actively seek out opportunities for process/mechanical improvement and take full responsibility for collaborating with management and peers to implement approved changes in a timely manner.
  • Effectively utilize CMMS software to electronically manage and guide maintenance activities from work order creation, work order completion, spare parts inventory, and asset management.

The employee in this position will be a positive-natured, task-oriented individual with equipment maintenance experience and significant mechanical aptitude. This person must be personally and professionally motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels within the company, to execute job responsibilities with a sense of urgency and to support plant and business initiatives, as well as consistently strive to increase the safety, quality, and productivity of the site. The individual in this role must be able to work independently or with others in the plant to meet organizational goals. Safety, Quality, and Productivity are paramount concerns.

Roles And Responsibities

  • Leadership and development of an hourly Maintenance Technician.
  • Leadership of daily and weekly maintenance planning and scheduling processes, ensuring that maintenance priorities align with site needs.
  • Development and execution of site preventative maintenance strategy and goals.
  • Own and manage the existing Work Management Process (WMP) for the site and make improvements to the system as necessary.
  • Own and manage Maintenance KPIs for the site, such as time to close work orders, MTBF, OEE, etc. and be able to generate reports and presentations communicating key improvements.
  • Other activities directed by supervision

Minimum Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 3-5 years (or more) of experience in Maintenance or Operations in an industrial manufacturing setting, with working knowledge of common process equipment including: rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, blowers, etc.), manual and actuated valves, DCS/control systems, tanks, etc.
  • Desire to add value in a team-based manufacturing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies

Education

  • Associates degree in applied sciences (preferably Mechanical or Chemical) from an accredited college or trade school.
  • 1-2 years (or more) of experience in Maintenance or Operations leadership at an industrial manufacturing facility
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP or other) and implementing a Maintenance planning/scheduling process
  • Experience with developing and evaluating preventative maintenance strategies
  • Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement processes/methods (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)

Experience

  • Maintenance Software.
  • Chemical-preferred, Oil and Gas Industry environment.
  • Minimum of 3-5 year of industrial maintenance experience and/or successful completion of a technical/mechanical diploma program and/or mechanical certifications.
  • Ability to effectively work with Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel and Outlook.

Essential Functions

The Ability to:

  • Lift 50 to 75 lbs. throughout the shift.
  • Routinely stand 60 to 70% of shift.
  • Routinely traverse the site to various buildings by foot.
  • Routinely have to travers ladders, and close quarters.
  • Work inside confined spaces.
