We are currently seeking a Full-Time Director of Procurement and National Accounts

The Director of Procurement will build out the first procurement and National Accounts function at AMC. This position will be responsible for developing objectives, policies, and procedures for the sourcing, purchasing and procurement of goods and services for client properties and for goods and services used within AMC itself. This position will identify and implement cost reduction opportunities as well as develop and implement improvements for purchasing and the procurement process. This position will also develop a robust preferred supplier and National Accounts program designed to leverage AMC and its managed properties’ spending power to obtain industry leading discounts, while also driving employee engagement and development programs. Additionally, the individual in this position will be responsible for ensuring internal and external client requirements are met while implementing and monitoring supplier performance programs with continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead Request for Proposal (“RFP”) supplier selection and negotiation process. Develop, execute and manage a best practices approach to sourcing practices and contract negotiation that supports sourcing strategic imperatives. Act as liaison between AMC (“The Company”) and vendors to ensure contract compliance and vendor engagement. Make recommendations on contract and business agreements to improve upon past results, minimize conflicts and maintain positive/profitable vendor relations.
  • Develop a strategically integrated system of standardized policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with Company sourcing initiatives and to ensure efficient and effective vendor services to maximize efficiencies and minimize costs. Ensure all programs, policies, procedures, processes, and ongoing activities within the center are in compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances to include appropriate ethical behaviors. Ensure the training and communications with vendors and internal partners on AMC policies, procedures and processes.
  • Create and maintain relationships throughout the organization, with the teams at client properties and with vendors/suppliers to connect the expertise of the indirect procurement/sourcing organization to AMC’s needs. Ensure client needs are met while establishing strong collaborative relationships with leadership from all AMC departments to reduce costs and increase rebates.
  • Ensure client needs / requirements are met. Manage resources effectively to support, develop and execute initiatives that reduce cost, manage risk and support improved efficiencies.
  • Travel to client and AMC locations to meet with stakeholders and vendors
  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication
  • Independently prioritize opportunities and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Other Duties And Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain relationships throughout the organization and with vendors/suppliers to connect the expertise of the indirect procurement/sourcing organization to AMC’s needs. Establish strong collaborative relationships with AMC Clients and leadership from all AMC departments to optimize margin, and efficiency/service levels needed to support business strategies and operations.
  • Participate with members of leadership team in developing best practices measures and processes to ensure execution and continuous productivity gains and efficiencies. Direct the development and dissemination of analyses, reports and recommendations.

Ensure the training and communications with vendors and internal partners on AMC policies, procedures and processes.
  • Lead supplier selection and negotiation. Develop, execute and manage a best practices approach to sourcing practices and contract negotiation that supports sourcing strategic imperatives. Act as liaison between AMC and vendors to ensure contract compliance and vendor engagement. Make recommendations on contract and business agreements to improve upon past interpretations, minimize conflicts and maintain positive/profitable vendor relations. Provide explanation to vendors on contract administration and interpretation
  • Manage and track internal implementation and contract compliance. Monitor business stakeholder satisfaction. Develop and manage relationships with vendors/suppliers and discuss performance on a consistent basis. Evaluate vendor performance. Resolve issues and implement solutions to address negative vendor performance.
  • Identify and execute total cost of ownership reduction opportunities.
  • Model leadership behaviors to management, staff and associates. Provide proactive leadership to maintain a positive business climate. Serve as an effective advocate for change and growth.
  • Establish and promote an organization culture that encourages leaders to seek and formulate ideas and opportunities that increase efficiency and that improve cost control, loss prevention, customer satisfaction and company image. Ensure a culture that values and promotes collaboration between all stakeholders and business partners.
  • Represent AMC to significant stakeholders. Prepare information and make presentations to various internal and external audiences including executive, middle, and front-line managers, AMC associates, and industry or professional society audiences.
  • Performs additional duties as required or as assigned.
  • Participate on committees as required.

Nature of Supervision

Minimal guidance is provided on some, but not all responsibilities performed. Independent decision-making regarding highly complex and strategic issues is a daily responsibility.

Planning and Problem Solving

The individual in this position should have significant experience as an indirect procurement/sourcing leader. Only general direction is provided regarding end results. The Director- Procurement & National Accounts is accountable for developing and executing strategy and tactics for the Indirect Procurement Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Master’s of Business Administration preferred. In addition to education
  • Five (5) years professional experience including three (3) years progressively responsible managerial leadership. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience can be substituted for a degree.
  • A proven track record in commodity expertise and strategic sourcing with focus on total cost of ownership/design-to-cost, excellent research and analysis and value-based decision analysis.
  • The ability to demonstrate a deep functional expertise within the indirect procurement arena, a well- developed ability to create winning customer strategies. Six Sigma training or Lean training/experience is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office and procurement specific systems.

Work Environment

The majority of duties will be performed while seated indoors in an office environment with little or no exposure to hazards. A moderate amount of field travel required by airplane or automobile.

Contacts

The Director- Procurement & National Accounts will have regular contact with executive and senior management to report on issues relating to and sourcing. This position will also have frequent contact with Clients and vendors to negotiate contracts and resolve contract issues.

This position must work seamlessly across all functional areas building strong collaborative partnerships with all external and internal stakeholders for the purpose of negotiations, change management and conflict resolution.
