Position Overview: Experienced accounting professional, ideally with public accounting experience, who will be responsible for lease administration and the financial close process for the real estate entities associated with Braves Development Co., LLC.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Directs and manages day-to-day operations of the General Ledger accounting team, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Drive timeliness, accuracy and completeness of financial reports to meet specified monthly and year-end closing deadlines, including validation of monthly reports and completion of various reporting schedules.
- Meet with business partners and Finance to discuss accruals, forecasts, and budgets.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, are reconciled on a timely basis.
- Manages the journal entry, inter-departmental transfer, and other accounting functions to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Coordinate the review of tenant billing recoveries for Common Area Maintenance.
- Develop and/or review responses of complex questions on subject billing matters
- Confirm lease data is input into the system and ensure bills are prepared accurately with lease terms.
- Review percentage rent and potential billings for applicable properties and ensure timely completion
- Manage/administer construction and permanent financing.
- Review legal documents such as operating agreements, management agreements, lease agreements, LOI’s, and loan documents to ensure entity compliance and convey any business impacts.
- Review potential deal models, ROI’s, Tenant Allowance funding, letters of credit, and other financial analysis to understand impact of rent relief, short term loans, and other lease amendments.
- Creates an innovative and continuous improvement focused environment by seeking out and encouraging ideas for process change.
- Coordinates and documents business processes through utilizing and/or developing standardized policies and procedures.
- Oversee all SOX processes
- Collaborate with the financial reporting team (Finance and Technical Accounting) to create unified long-term and short-term goals to drive the success of the department.
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports.
- Manage internal controls for the general accounting team.
- Other Ad Hoc requests from the business or finance leaders.
- 10+ years’ accounting experience
- BS or BBA in accounting and CPA required
- Big 4 experience preferred
- Commercial real estate industry experience required
- Experience working with assessments in commercial real estate a plus
- Strong experience in US GAAP, Financial Statement preparation, and SOX requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Yardi and Workday experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex financial information
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and in collaboration with others, to meet deadlines.
- Participate in process improvement and productivity projects to drive continuous improvement in the accounting functional area through documentation, cross-training and automation.
- Perform proactively and be creative
- Ability to build relationships and work directly with various business leaders and groups
