Summary Of Position

ARTISAN is seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Vice President (RVP) to lead a growing portfolio of multifamily communities across the Midwest. This senior-level position is responsible for driving operational excellence, mentoring the Regional Management Team, and executing strategic initiatives aligned with company goals. The RVP serves as the direct supervisor and mentor to Regional Managers, ensuring accountability, consistency, and results across a multi-state footprint.

As a hands-on operator, the RVP plays a critical role in performance management, team development, regulatory compliance, and the seamless execution of new acquisitions and transitions. This role leads through others by developing high-performing regional leaders while maintaining oversight of a select group of high-priority communities and strategic assets.

The RVP collaborates closely with senior leadership and department heads to align field operations with organizational strategy. The ideal candidate combines a data-driven mindset with deep industry knowledge and a passion for leadership development. This role contributes to system implementation, business development, and transition planning, helping to scale ARTISAN’s operational platform while upholding our high standards for service, compliance, and performance.

Principal Accountabilities

Performance Oversight & Portfolio Development

  • Lead and support a growth-oriented, multi-state portfolio of 30+ properties and/or 7500+ units through direct supervision of Regional Managers.
  • Maintain a small, high-priority portfolio of strategic communities and high-profile ownership groups.
  • Ensure communities meet performance goals, remain fully leased, and operate in full compliance with eligibility and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as occupancy, leasing velocity, delinquency, and expense control; adjust strategies as needed in partnership with Regional Managers.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for operational challenges, guiding Regional Managers in timely and effective resolution.
  • Conduct regular site visits with travel to each community as needed, and partner with Regional Managers to provide coaching, evaluate operations, and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Promote operational consistency and performance across all regions by setting clear expectations, driving accountability, and coaching Regional Managers on execution.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Serve as a “leader of leaders,” mentoring Regional Managers and guiding the development of strong site-level leadership teams.
  • Set performance standards, provide ongoing coaching, and foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability.
  • Maintain high-performing teams by identifying potential, encouraging development, and promoting accountability.
  • Lead regular meetings ranging from one-on-one check-ins with Regional Managers to company-wide announcements, investor updates, and ownership group briefings.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations for regional and site-level leadership.
  • Promote continuous growth and professional development within the Regional Management Team.
  • Cultivate and sustain third-party partnerships with a focus on performance and long-term growth.

Financial Management & Compliance

  • Partner with Regional Managers and Asset Management to develop and implement financial strategies across the portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue optimization.
  • Monitor financial health through quarterly reviews, site audits, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure full adherence to Fair Housing laws, investor requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide leadership during emergencies, coordinating with adjusters and ownership on claims and ensuring timely communication with partners, investors, and lenders.

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Set and communicate strategic direction for field operations in alignment with ARTISAN’s objectives.
  • Lead through Regional Managers to ensure each property delivers on performance targets, adheres to brand standards, and upholds ARTISAN’s resident experience.
  • Champion ARTISAN’s culture by fostering a collaborative, performance-driven, and team-oriented environment.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-departmental teams to assess operations, establish benchmarks, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Lead community transitions supporting onboarding and offboarding efforts across operations, systems, and personnel to protect ARTISAN’s reputation and relationships.

Process Implementation & Innovation

  • Drive implementation of scalable systems, policies, and operational processes to enhance consistency and efficiency across all regions.
  • Analyze market, economic, and performance trends to guide strategy and support portfolio growth.
  • Ensure the Regional Management Team has access to tools, training, and resources to execute effectively.
  • Collaborate with HR, Maintenance, Marketing, Training, Compliance, Accounting, and other departments to support company-wide initiative

Requirements For Regional Vice President Of Operations

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in property management, including 5+ years in a senior regional, RVP or VP role within multifamily operations.
  • Proven success managing large, multi-state portfolios and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong background in third-party client onboarding and institutional investor reporting.
  • Demonstrated success working with institutional ownership groups and managing a variety of asset types, including lease-ups, value-add, stabilized, and compliance-regulated properties.
  • Proven ability to support portfolio growth through business development, client retention, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with market rate, affordable, and a variety of asset classes in various geographic locations
  • Proficient in PMS systems such as AppFolio, Yardi, Entrata or Onesite.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across multiple states with Midwest focus
  • Deep knowledge of Fair Housing, ADA, Landlord-Tenant Laws, and industry compliance standards.
  • Exceptional leadership acumen, executive presence, and communication skills; fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail; able to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Industry certifications such as CPM, CAPS, or CAM are strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
