Position Summary

This position supports Metrolina by helping educate employees and managers on company interpretation of all policies, procedures, and practices. They will develop a world class communication strategy with the HR Manager and HR Director through the company’s HRIS system, and drive employee engagement through the HRIS system. A successful generalist will also be able to build strong relationships and trust with the employee population that they support and be a resource to them for general HR inquiries.

Job Description

  • Maintain compliance with human resources policies and procedures
  • Coach employees on policies and procedures
  • Support training, benefits, and safety initiatives with their employee population
  • Successfully executes employee recognition and events
  • Provides data-driven recommendations on engagement activities
  • Partners with HR Management on employee concerns and ensuring an agreeable resolution is communicated and resolved
  • Ensures all employee investigations are executed with integrity and resolution
  • Ensures managers and employees experience a meaningful review process
  • Develops recommendations and actions plans for employee relations for the organization
  • Manage communication and documentation available on the company’s HRIS
  • Maintain relevancy on HRIS updates and communicate to the HR team as available
  • Partner with the HR Manager on recommendations for system processing improvements and increase employee engagement on the HRIS system
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in an employee relations or generalist capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field, or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of employment law pertaining to employee relations, such as FLSA, ERISA, DOL, USERRA
  • Excellent customer-service orientation
  • Strong capabilities for attention to detail and organization
  • Exception level of integrity with the ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage an end-user experience on an HRIS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred

Job Setting & Physical Demands

Employees in this position work primarily indoors but may be required to ambulate between locations within a large outdoor environment. The role is largely sedentary, however some administrative duties such as filing are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets, bend or stand as necessary. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to use a computer and other standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, fax machines, etc. Fluency in the English language and the ability to see, speak, hear, read, and write are required. The ability to travel by all means of transportation and to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business needs is required.
