Description

Role Overview:

The AP Manager is responsible for managing accounts payable accounting functions and prepares reports and statistics detailing results for smooth capital planning as well as proper general ledger GAAP reporting. This position also requires supervising, training, mentoring, and coaching all employees within the AP department.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations involving recording of transactions and planning cash disbursements appropriately.
  • Manage AP staff by coaching, counseling, training, and disciplining employees, and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Examines, analyzes, and interprets accounting records, contracts, and invoices for the purpose of compliance, GAAP reporting, and cash disbursement forecasting.
  • Reviews and corrects general ledger accounts and schedules for monthly operating accounting with cash, AP trade ledgers and accruals, and unvouchered ledgers (both freight and inventory). Assists in the preparation of audit schedules.
  • Oversees accounts payable record keeping. Ensures expense coding, voucher preparation and check issuances are accomplished accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work with the material department and vendor accounting departments with regard to capital expectations, and with all expected and understood terms and conditions if not formalized.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and needed.

Requirements

Education/Experience and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in any related discipline (Accounting Preferred) with 5-8 years’ experience in accounting or business.
  • Prior management experience in an office setting preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Software (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe.
  • Knowledge working with Syspro or similar ERP software required.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to details, with analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

  • Primarily office based work.
  • Must be able to frequently use hands and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to occasionally stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
