The role of the Assistant Alzheimer’s Programmer is to coordinate and oversee the Life Enrichment program being provided to residents in the Lighthouse Program in the absence of the Program Director. Working closely with the Life Enrichment staff and other direct caregivers, the Assistant Alzheimer’s Programmer provides support and guidance developing and implementing the Life Enrichment calendar plan and assisting with person-centered activities for individual residents.

The Assistant Alzheimer’s Programmer has accountability for the enrichment activities of the Lighthouse Program and is responsible to ensure that the policies and procedures specific to this Program are followed. In addition, the Assistant Alzheimer’s Programmer assists in developing programing on the units, obtaining supplies for activities, leading activities on the units, training and on-going education of staff members, provides input to the Program Director in the development of policies and procedures, completes audits as needed, participates in resident care plan meetings, and provides supervision for resident visitation.

Qualifications / Experience for this role:

  • Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) or eligible within 90 days of hire
  • Teaching and public speaking skills in variety of group and individual settings
  • Proficiency in developing and facilitating activity programming
  • Familiar with various Windows-based software applications, most notably Microsoft Office Platform
  • Strong Interpersonal and Organizational Skills
  • Ability to work in groups and independently
