Job Overview
Builder Finance Inc. (“BFI”) is a coast-to-coast real estate mortgage lender. Loan programs are detailed at builderfinance.com. Launched in 2014, BFI is rigorous, disciplined, and backed by stable capital. We pride ourselves on a great client experience and, regardless of where our competition is at, seek to constantly improve the client experience.
The work environment is that of a successful small company: friendly and supportive but also demanding. Good performers are able to take on more and more responsibility. The ideal candidate enjoys being busy and thrives with consistent/repetitive work, not letting any details slip. Expect to work on hundreds of deals every year. Experience with mortgage lending documentation and procedures is required. Core job responsibilities revolve around loan closing and, secondarily, loan syndication and loan enforcement.
Loan closing work involves: compiling and reviewing corporate authorizations, certificates of good standing, and other diligence items needed to close; identifying any title defects or issues including missing or inaccurate information; preparing and distributing definitive legal documentation; reviewing settlement statements; coordinating loan closings and initial disbursement of funds; and ensuring proper recording and filing of lending instruments.
Loan syndication work includes preparing loan files, ensuring proper recording and filing of lending instruments, effectuating sale of loan interests, and working with the finance team to ensure proper settlement and accounting.
Loan enforcement work involves effectuating remedies on sub- and non-performing loans. This includes drafting and sending legal notices, directing litigation actions, and various legal actions in between. Work may involve coordination with Senior Management and outside counsel. The successful hire will minimize legal expenses while optimizing quick recovery of capital.
The responsibility and compensation are compelling, especially for a successful candidate currently performing a comparable role. This position is in office; remote work is not offered but potentially for limited periods of harsh weather. No travel is expected for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Builder Finance Inc. is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected status.
