HMT is currently seeking a qualified API 570 Inspector to join our team. This position is designed for a dedicated professional with a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. The API 570 Inspector will perform piping inspections in accordance with API standards, ensuring compliance with customer scope of work and HMT’s internal processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to safety, maintain professional relationships with clients and team members, and contribute to HMT’s expanding piping inspection services. This field-based role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a career-driven mindset to deliver high-quality inspection services across the oil and gas industry.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform API 570 inspections per customer scope of work and HMT’s internal processes and procedures.
  • Direct Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Technicians to complete in-service and out-of-service inspections as needed.
  • Properly interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with clients, facility personnel, and coworkers.
  • Ensure adherence to all HMT safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Safely operate vehicles within oil and gas facilities and field locations.
  • Use standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel) for reporting and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid API 570 Certification with documented API 570 inspection work experience.
  • Technically competent and knowledgeable in the application of current inspection codes and standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license from state of residence.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must pass DISA background check and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Additional Certifications And Experience (Not Required)

  • Experience in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) methods is a bonus.
  • Additional API certifications, particularly API 653 and API 510, are highly desirable.
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
  • JLG lift operator certification (subject to HMT Safety Department approval).
  • Current safety training (within the last 12 months), including but not limited to: Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid respirator fit test.
  • OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification.
