Description

Position Summary:

This person is expected to acknowledge and uphold the City Mission’s Statement of Faith. The Transitional Housing Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of our transitional housing program. This role ensures a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for residents as they work toward independence. The manager supervises housing staff, supports case coordination, and promotes a culture of accountability, growth, and dignity. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations and occupancy of Transitional Housing units.
  • Lead, train, and support housing volunteers.
  • Conduct regular resident check-ins and address concerns proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, cleanliness, and behavioral expectations.
  • Support transitions from emergency shelter to Transitional Housing.
  • Assist the Transitional Housing residents with developing a Christ-centered life plan.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a heart for service.
  • Experience working with individuals facing homelessness, addiction, or trauma.
  • Background in social work, human services, housing programs, or related field.
  • Proven ability to manage operations, supervise staff, and handle crisis situations.
  • Trauma-informed care training or willingness to be trained.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of City Mission of Schenectady.
  • Flexibility and ability to work some weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License

City Mission of Schenectady provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State Law on Pay Transparency in Job Advertisements. The expected annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000. Actual compensation rates depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, and education. The compensation range listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay and or other forms of compensation or benefits.
