Position Summary

The Director of the Security Operations Center (SOC), reporting to the VP of Corporate Security, leads the Company’s enterprise-wide intelligence and threat management program, ensuring 24/7 situational awareness, rapid response, and proactive mitigation of risks to the company’s associates, customers, guests, tenants, properties, and operations. The role also leads the company’s mobile patrol services program, promoting safety and security across retail, office, and apartment properties.

Job Duties

  • Threat Assessment and Threat Management (TATM) Program Development: Lead a comprehensive threat management strategy to identify, assess, and respond to behavioral, physical, and reputational threats. Serve as a central point of coordination for case management involving violent acts, physical threats, stalking, trespassing, and other concerning behaviors.
  • Real-Time Operations Oversight: Build and manage a state-of-the-art SOC that functions as the company’s Real-Time Information Center (RTIC), integrating alarm monitoring, dispatching, threat tracking, open source intelligence and technology-enabled monitoring among other functions.
  • Behavioral Threat Assessment & Intervention: Collaborate with HR, Legal, Property Management, and external partners to develop protocols for threat case management, ensuring early intervention, response planning, and consistent documentation.
  • Enterprise Risk Monitoring: Leverage internal data, partner alerts, social listening tools, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools to monitor for real-time risks affecting company operations, including civil unrest, crime trends, and reputational threats.
  • Technology Integration & Intelligence Fusion: Collaborate with Business Divisions and Innovation Technology team in the Strategy, Design, Development and Implementation of the Company's physical security systems. This includes technologies for threat detection, real-time decision-making, security cameras and access control
  • Security Patrol Program Leadership: Oversee after-hours mobile patrol operations to provide enhanced safety, rapid response, and deterrence across high-priority properties. Implement a standardized reporting and metrics strategy for the Business Divisions that promotes transparency, while fostering confidence in the after-hours program.
  • Incident Response & Crisis Management: Provide real-time support for emergencies and incidents, integrating RTIC resources into business continuity and crisis communications efforts.
  • Site Security Design & Vulnerability Management: Collaborate with Corporate Security regional security personnel to establish enterprise standards for site vulnerability assessments, threat-informed security design, and CPTED principles in new developments and retrofits.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a key liaison between Security, Risk, Safety, HR, Legal, and Operations to ensure aligned, enterprise-level threat and emergency management.
  • Training & Awareness: In partnership with Safety and HR, participate in internal training efforts on workplace violence prevention, situational awareness, threat reporting protocols, and response strategies.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee contract employees assigned to the SOC, and collaborate with vendor account managers to ensure their proper training and effective utilization.
  • Law Enforcement Collaboration: When appropriate, coordinate Key Responsibilities with state, federal and local law enforcement partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • 5-7+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate security, public safety, law enforcement, intelligence, investigations, or behavioral threat assessment.
  • Proven experience managing threat cases and working within multi-disciplinary threat management teams.
  • Strong understanding of real-time operations centers, security technologies, and emergency response coordination.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), decision-making, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong partnership mentality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Sciences, Homeland Security, or a related field.
  • Professional training or certification in threat assessment (e.g., CTM, WAVR-21, SIVRA, WVTS).
  • Experience integrating behavioral threat management with real-time security operations.
  • Strong IT acumen and experience with security systems integration, including security cameras, alarm monitoring platforms, video analytics, mass communication platforms, threat intelligence platforms, data analysis systems, access control, CAD/RMS, and PSIM/VMS.
  • Familiarity with legal considerations in workplace safety, privacy, and behavioral intervention.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant professional Certifications such as CPP, PSP, CEM, CTM or CPD.
  • Experience developing and delivering training in threat management, de-escalation, or crisis intervention.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity, reputational risk monitoring, or enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and behavioral health referral systems as they relate to threat intervention.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $125,800.00 - $187,900.00

Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
