Job Summary

Manages the day-to-day operations of the Choose Gang Free Program (CGF), gang prevention and intervention, through the Salt Lake Area Gang Project (SLAGP).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Public Administration, or other closely related field and four (4) years of experience working within the criminal justice system dealing with gang involved youth or youth at risk of being involved in gang activity OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

One (1) Year Of Supervisory Experience Is Preferred.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required Sheriff’s Office pre-employment background check.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisals and discipline.
  • Participates in the hiring process for new staff in coordination with Human Resources and with the approval of SLAGP Director.
  • Maintains training records for staff to ensure all program related training is up to date.
  • Conducts outreach to ensure enrollment requirements are met for the CGF program or other programs as necessary.
  • Manages, assigns, and tracks all incoming referrals.
  • Leads and organizes the CGF Intervention Team and team meetings.
  • Develops and manages program implementation to ensure that youth and families progress appropriately through phases of the CGF Model.
  • Coordinates and participates in program evaluation to measure outcomes and progress.
  • Conducts and ensures that staff follow Cognitive Behavioral Practices as required by the program.
  • Ensures that grant records and files are appropriately set up and maintained.
  • Collects, analyzes, interpretates, prepares, and communicates data, with an ability to utilize data in order to evaluate programs and the community's needs.
  • Develops new program ideas and builds grantor relationships as necessary to increase funding for CGF gang prevention and intervention programs.
  • Researches, writes and submits grant applications related to gang prevention and intervention activities as requested.
  • Represents CGF in all community meetings.
  • Provides Gang awareness and prevention training throughout the County.
  • Identifies local schools that would benefit from participation in CGF programs and maintains regular interaction and consultation with school leadership.
  • Provides “Train the Trainer” education to schools and programs in the Choose Gang Free 12-week classroom curriculum and provide booster training and support for schools and agencies implementing the CGF curriculum.

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements
