Join our team as a Marketing Coordinator and help connect the community with everything our library has to offer!
In this key role, you’ll support the library’s communication goals by planning and coordinating marketing efforts that promote our services, programs, and events. You’ll work closely with the Library Director and staff to design eye-catching promotional materials, manage our website and social media platforms, and ensure that all messaging is consistent, engaging, and community-focused.
We’re looking for someone creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects at once. The ideal candidate is collaborative, flexible, and excited about using their communication skills to help people discover the many ways their library can support and inspire them.
Employment Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Location: Onsite – Shasta Public Libraries, Redding, CA
Pay Range: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour

Primary Responsibilities
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each duty effectively and professionally in support of the library’s overall communications goals.
- Collaborate with the Library Director and staff to develop content and promotional strategies aligned with the library’s mission and goals
- Design and produce marketing materials including but not limited to brochures, flyers, signage, email campaigns, social media posts, and newsletters
- Maintain and update the library website with content approved by the Director; support a consistent and user-friendly experience for visitors
- Create engaging content for the library’s social media channels in alignment with communication guidelines and under the Director’s direction
- Assist in the preparation of press releases and promotional content—only as directed and approved by the Library Director
- Ensure all publicity and promotional materials for programs meet any required guidelines including style, accuracy, and grammar
- Work with staff to gather information about upcoming events, programs, and services to support promotional needs
- Collect and analyze data related to marketing performance to inform future content or strategy—recommendations must be submitted for approval before implementation
- Organize and maintain digital archives of marketing assets including visuals, press clippings, and other media
- Surveys or other public information-gathering tools may only be created and distributed with the Library Director’s prior approval
- May assist with evening and weekend events as needed
- Performs other marketing-related duties as requested and approved by the Library Director
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, or related field preferred
- Previous experience developing marketing materials and working in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Familiarity with public libraries is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, email marketing, and website content management
- Excellent visual design skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools; plus, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Strong written communication and editing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Must be creative, flexible, and able to receive feedback and direction
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential to the job
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
