Maintenance Manager

Salary - $105k-$120k

LOCATION: Merced, CA

The Maintenance Manager provides direction to the maintenance personnel with specific focus on preventative and timely, corrective maintenance of process, facility, and auxiliary equipment. The Technical Manager fulfills the duties of this role in case of a vacancy

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the corporate profit objectives by directing safe and efficient predictive, preventative and corrective equipment repairs in a timely manner.
  • This role directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities for supervising direct reports include hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Execute high quality standards and continuous improvement efforts focused on minimizing costs and maximizing productivity.
  • Establish and maintain a strong manufacturing customer focus throughout the department and in support of plant-wide operations.
  • Within the maintenance department and all operations departments, develop and maintain an atmosphere of trust and business awareness. Insist upon fairness and equality in the application of corporate policies and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Establish a skilled and competent work force focusing on team building and group problem solving.
  • Provide repairs and preventative support to operations departments in a timely and efficient manner, with careful consideration of life-cycle costs and bottlenecks, in support of minimizing conversion costs and maximizing process equipment uptime.
  • Execution of work orders and parts management utilizing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
  • Establish operating indicators (metrics) which measure departmental performance on a regular basis and communicate this information to upper management, critical customers and employees.
  • Implement ongoing productivity improvement programs.
  • Actively participate in capital planning, implementation, and new process development.
  • Support the introduction of new technology.
  • Provide consistent and timely support to “sister facilities” to maximize the global benefit to corporate objectives. Ability to travel within the US and Canada is a must.
  • Develop strong, positive communication links with Manufacturing, Global Equipment, Sales, Finance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Safety, Human Resources and Planning.
  • Provide strong leadership in the area of personnel safety for all departments by setting the standards high to ensure that maintenance efforts do not put employees at risk.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with operations customers and suppliers.

You Bring These Skills, Experience & Education

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND/OR SKILLS:

  • Five (5) - Ten (10) years related experience preferred in a manufacturing environment (10 years required if candidate does not possess a bachelor’s degree)..
  • Prior experience with plastics manufactuing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to learn and adapt to ERP systems.
  • The ability to excel in a fast paced, high-energy environment with constant interface with people
  • ACAD / Solid works engineering programs preferred
  • Computer literate and strong knowledge of Microsoft office software
  • Electro/mechanical/pneumatic background on automated machines preferred.
  • Ability to identify need for contracted support of PLC’s/microprocessors during troubleshooting.
  • Stainless Steel Welding and Fabrication a plus
  • Equipment building and prototyping a plus
  • Ability to work with and understand AC and DC voltage
  • Troubleshoot all aspects of maintenance in an Industrial Manufacturing Business.
