Are you a compassionate, dependable person who enjoys helping others? If so, Waystone is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Developmental Specialists to support individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving greater independence, skill development, and community inclusion based out of our Day Habilitation Program. As a Developmental Specialist you will support individuals by creating personalized support plans, delivering hands-on training, and promoting dignity, choice, and empowerment in every interaction.

Location: Haverhill, MA (Day Habilitation Program)

Full Time Schedule 40 hours per week

This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire.

Part Time Schedules 25+ hours per week

This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire.

  • Monday - Friday 8:15am - 3:15pm
  • Monday - Friday 8:15am - 3:15pm

Part Time less than 25 hours per week

This position is not benefit eligible.

Compensation: These are non-exempt full-time/part-time positions. The hourly rate is $21.00. You will be a union member to SEIU Local 509.

Position Details: Our Day Habilitation Program is designed to support individuals in developing essential life skills through a structured and engaging rotating schedule of activities. These activities are tailored to meet both the needs and interests of each participant and focus on the following key areas: communication, social skills, fine and gross motor development, sensory motor development, behavioral and emotional support, independent living skills, and activities of daily living. This position is based out of our Day Habilitation Program in Haverhill, MA but you will also be required to transport individuals to various activities in the community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct care and support based on individual medical, physical, and behavioral needs.
  • Implement and monitor individualized support plans, behavior strategies, and medical protocols.
  • Accurately implement crisis intervention strategies, behavior support plans, and medical protocols.
  • Facilitate skill development and goal achievement as outlined in individual support plans, monitoring progress and adjusting approaches as needed.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner, ensuring clarity and relevance for regulatory review.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed incident and accident reports that clearly outline interventions and meet all regulatory standards.
  • Encourage self-advocacy and active participation in daily routines and community activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared program environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a training or support program for individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Complete all mandatory training within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience preferred.
