The Medical Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement, inventory, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment within healthcare facilities. This role ensures the timely and efficient delivery of materials to support patient care, while maintaining regulatory compliance and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Sourcing:
- Source and purchase medical supplies and equipment from approved vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers.
- Ensure all purchases comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Logistics & Distribution:
- Coordinate the timely delivery of supplies to various departments or locations.
- Work with logistics providers to track shipments and resolve delays or discrepancies.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for sensitive medical items.
- Data Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of orders, receipts, and inventory levels.
- Analyze usage patterns to forecast future needs.
- Prepare reports on supply chain performance, costs, and issues.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all supply chain activities meet healthcare regulations (e.g., FDA, OSHA, HIPAA).
- Stay current with changes in medical product standards and import/export rules.
- Collaboration:
- Liaise with clinical staff to understand supply needs and preferences.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, quality assurance, and operations teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in medical or healthcare supply chain/logistics.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory standards and medical product classifications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Certification such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) is a plus.
