General Description
The Security Intern will assist in the day-to-day and event-time operations of the Security Department.

The Security Intern will assist in the day-to-day and event-time operations of the Security Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES Include But Are Not Limited To
- Scheduling and supervision of full and part-time security personnel.
- Supervise and develop direct reports.
- Production and tracking of Toyota Center ID Badges and tracking of Rockets credentials.
- Coordination of activities with other departments and outside agencies.
- Oversee the inventory and maintenance of department assets.
- Assist in the development of plans for events.
- Traffic planning for major events.
- Coordination of multi-modal transportation systems relating to major events
- Assist guests with security related issues.

- Junior, Senior, or recent graduate (up to 6 months following graduation date)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Above average working knowledge of Excel, Access and Word program
- Knowledge of budgets and budget processes
- At least two (2) years experience in law enforcement, traffic management, event planning or related field.
- Possess or be eligible for a Non-Commissioned Security License
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
- The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
- The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs weighing up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed including nights weekends and holidays.
