Role Summary

Electrical Power Conversion (EPC) software is at the center of torque generation control and related functional safety features for Rivian’s cutting-edge electrical vehicles.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will develop software architecture, the test automation platforms, and software tools for Rivian’s EPC motor controls.

Your Responsibilities Would Include

  • Architecture Development: Optimize the architecture of motor control software with both hand coding and MATLAB/Simulink code-generation.
  • Modeling: Develop and Maintain Simulink and Python-based motor control models for simulation, software development and regression testing.
  • Test automation platform development: Architecting, design, implementation, deployment and continuous improvement of the scalable and robust test automation platforms.
  • Automating Requirements-Based Testing: Implement the pipelines for requirements traceability, test coverage analysis, exporting and reporting and automating regression tests. Tool and Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of software development workflow and test automation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, integration engineers, and system architects. Effectively communicate with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, addressing concerns, and aligning the team with organizational goals.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges and provide strategic solutions to ensure the stability of motor control software and reliability of the testing automation platform.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for the software architecture and test automation platform, including design specifications, guidelines, and procedures.

Qualifications

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive the development of a cutting-edge testing automation platform.

  • A master's or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years’ experience in controls, embedded software and test automation
  • Previous automotive and motor control experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python and C
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink and model-based design.
  • In-depth knowledge of test automation tools, frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with various teams, including software developers, QA engineers, and system architects.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range Southern California-Based Applicants: $171,100 - $213,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is adequate on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
