Position Summary

The Director of Technology Operations plays a critical role in overseeing the infrastructure and service desk functions that support a secure, scalable, and cloud-optimized IT environment across clinical and corporate settings. Reporting directly to the SVP of IT, this role is responsible for executing strategic initiatives and ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced, value-based care organization.

This position requires a technically proficient leader with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, enterprise systems, and IT service management. The ideal candidate will also bring proven experience in managing cross-functional technology projects, driving automation, and supporting digital transformation efforts across a distributed healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Operations Leadership

Direct the planning, implementation, and support of cloud and on-premises infrastructure, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.

Champion a cloud-first approach, optimizing SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS solutions to support business agility and scalability.

Manage the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud telephony platforms

Supervise enterprise network operations, including configuration and support

Partner with application and data teams to ensure infrastructure alignment with business needs.

Oversee endpoint provisioning and lifecycle processes.

Guarantee high availability, performance, and security of IT systems across clinical and corporate locations.

Advance automation of infrastructure operations and implement observability tools for proactive monitoring and incident response.

Direct the development and execution of ITSM processes, including incident, change, and asset management.

Monitor backup and disaster recovery operations.

Coordinate with security and compliance teams to ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulations.

Strategic Partnership & Collaboration

Work with the SVP of IT to align infrastructure and operations with enterprise goals.

Partner on the development and execution of data and analytics strategies, ensuring infrastructure readiness and data availability.

Assist with cybersecurity initiatives by aligning infrastructure with security policies and collaborating on risk mitigation strategies.

Contribute to IT budgeting and financial planning by providing input on infrastructure investments, licensing, and operational costs.

Support with vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.

Engage in M&A and divestiture activities, ensuring seamless IT transitions and integrations.

Team Leadership & Service Excellence

Guide and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers and service desk staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Encourage a service-oriented mindset and drive improvements in user experience and IT support delivery.

Maintain effective use of remote support tools to provide timely technical assistance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

10+ years of progressive IT experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role focused on infrastructure and operations.

Proven experience managing Microsoft technology stack

Strong understanding of ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and service delivery models.

Experience in healthcare IT, preferably in a value-based care or managed care setting.

Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, data infrastructure, and compliance frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, contracts, and IT budgets.

Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

ITIL Foundation or higher
