- Knowledge of Department of Transportation & Federal Railroad Administration rules and regulations preferred
- Trade school certifications, college degree, or equivalent work experience preferred
- Five or more years of supervisory or practical experience in facility maintenance or a related field
- Experience in the application of labor contracts
- Communicates successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external
- Strong interpersonal skills for training and coaching activities
- Possesses basic knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word and Excel, and the ability to learn other software applications
- Must have experience in the application of labor contracts
- Demonstrates understanding and adheres to the KCS principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence, Safety & Security, and Economic Performance
- Implements and monitors operational practices to ensure equipment reliability and quality service while ensuring a safe and productive workplace
- Analyses utilization of department workforce and facilities to continuously identify improvement in work practices and scheduling
- Complies with and ensure staff compliance with all safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required
- Ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State and Company rules and regulations, and Keolis Commuter Services/MBTA Contract Agreements
- Collaborates directly with MBTA, FRA, State Fire Marshall’s Office, Boston Fire Dept., Dept. of Public Safety, OSHA and other outside agencies
- Maintains all systems within the facilities including but not limited to diesel fuel oil bulk storage, cathodic protection, electrical, jib booms, overhead cranes, HVAC, etc.
- Develops and implements maintenance and safety plans for the facilities
- Administers collective bargaining agreements as they relate to construction activities in and around the railroad
- Completes other duties as assigned
- Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent educational credential
- A valid driver’s license is required to successfully travel throughout the Commuter Rail network and locations as assigned
- Qualifications in NORAC Operating Rules and Roadway Worker Protection (RWP)
- Attends and participates in all assigned meetings and training, specifically safety and security related
- Covers special planned work, including some nights and weekends
- Responds to emergency calls at all items in a 24/7 transportation environment
- Office work, plus regular visits to various field sites
- Work involves walking, talking, hearing, climbing, driving and lifting (up to 50 pounds)
- Vision abilities required by this job include near and distant vision with the ability to adjust focus
- Drug and alcohol screening: Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen. Also, contingent upon receiving a favorable background check. Must pass a physical examination.
