Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Quality and Risk, this leader has operational accountability and oversight, and manages the daily activities of the Risk Management Program for the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. Responsible for enterprise-level risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting efforts. As a mentor to various internal stakeholders across the organization, the Director of Risk Management is responsible for promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence throughout the organization. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring successful completion of teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities in support of systemwide departmental and organizational goals. Responsible for providing expert guidance and advice on all aspects of risk policy development; risk management program implementation; critical incident reporting; incident trends and mitigation plans; and achievement of SMH’s expected practices regarding patient/staff safety and experience. Evaluate key metrics and create reports related to the Risk Management Program for various audiences, including senior leadership and the SMH Board. Collaborate with SMH’s legal counsel claims management team regarding litigation issues.

Required Qualifications

• Require a minimum of ten (10) years of healthcare management experience in hospital setting.
• Require a Master's degree in related field.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer Florida Registered Nurse licensure; candidates with comparable clinical backgrounds may also be considered. Prior nursing leadership experience in an acute care or outpatient setting preferred.
• Prefer Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM).
• Prefer ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of relevant regulatory requirements (CMS, AHCA, TJC etc.).
