BAM is currently seeking a Director of Marketing who can thrive in a dynamic and complex work environment while solving problems, making decisions, communicating effectively, and building consensus through collaboration in support of the institution’s audience and revenue goals. The qualified candidate will represent and champion the voice of the customer and will be deeply invested in understanding what motivates key target audiences to participate in our programs and how best to reach and engage them. They will steward and manage the BAM visual and verbal brand and will leverage audience insights and sales data to create successful marketing initiatives and campaigns (strategy, creative, and messaging) that achieve the organization’s goals in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible. The selected candidate must have the confidence, expertise, and insight to help shape strategy, participate in driving key business decisions, and oversee a team that can execute at a high level and achieve results.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Work with Vice President of Marketing and other department directors to establish strategy and develop annual marketing plans that support institutional priorities and goals.
- Liaise with Development to ensure marketing and fundraising strategies are aligned and that we are effectively collaborating to attract and deepen engagement with target audiences. Serve as primary Marketing contact for Development, assuring that Development messaging is institutionally aligned, coordinating the timing of Development communications so they work in tandem with overall institutional communications, and acting as information conduit so that Development is aware of upcoming programming.
- Establish department’s priorities and manage project assignments to align with institutional goals and directives.
- Oversee the work of the creative services, marketing, and insight & analytics teams to effectively position BAM programs for target audiences and execute advertising and direct marketing campaigns (programmatic digital/social, direct mail/email, outdoor, broadcast, etc.) that will achieve department goals.
- Oversee creative concepting and messaging/copywriting and the timely delivery of all campaign creative assets.
- Work closely with Vice President of Marketing and Marketing Operations Director to manage department budgets, track expenses, and manage reconciliations.
- Work closely with Director of Communications to ensure marketing, communications, and social media/content strategies are aligned in support of institutional goals.
- Build a culture of data-driven decision making. Analyze sales trends to determine and/or change the course of campaign strategies and tactics, including analysis of and reporting on marketing KPIs.
- Liaise with marketing/advertising agencies and consultants to develop media and other promotional plans and to traffic advertising assets
- Work with stakeholders across the institution on initiatives to enhance BAM’s institutional brand and to improve the audience experience on BAM’s campus
- Serve as project leader or stakeholder in special projects as they arise.
- Oversee direct mail and email marketing strategy; liaise with Development staff to coordinate projects and schedules
- Hire, support, and mentor marketing and creative services teams.
