Job Description

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

The Project Management Office within the Information Technology Directorate is seeking a high-performing individual to fill the role of Senior Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides support on five or more small projects (<$5M TPC) and/or mentors lesser experienced project management staff.
  • Provides support for project status reporting and special project briefings.
  • Uses MSTS project management processes, techniques, and tools.
  • Deliver projects based on the PMI Project Lifecycle.
  • Accurately report the delivery status of projects to executive sponsorship and key stakeholders.
  • Participates in all aspects of the project(s) over the entire lifecycle (initiation, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing).
  • Provides technical and administrative assistance to assigned projects.
  • Coordinates work efforts through interaction with peers, project leaders, and supervisor.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience and at least 5 years’ related professional experience.
  • Previous project management experience and responsibilities should include:
  • Managing small projects (<$5M TPC) and project teams (<10 people) through representative project lifecycle phases;
  • Defining, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and successfully completing discrete elements of scope in compliance with defined schedule, costs, risk, and quality constraints;
  • Maintaining satisfaction of stakeholders with differing needs and expectations;
  • Managing communications between project stakeholders and team members;
  • Identifying and complying with project requirements in development pf products and deliverables;
  • Managing the project team in successfully achieving project scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Evaluates alternatives and identifies solutions using systematic, multi-step approaches.
  • Collaboration: Facilitates discussion and resolves conflicts within the Integrated Project Team (IPT) and with stakeholders. Established trust among IPT members. Builds and uses cross-functional relationships to accomplish tasks. Establishes and manages small IPTs (<10 people). Maintains and effectively leads the IPT.
  • Achieves customer satisfaction. Seeks advice from more senior project managers.
  • Decision-Making: Demonstrates effective decision-making skills, including knowledge of how and when to escalate issues to higher levels. Analyzes the risks and future impact of decisions.
  • Project Management certification preferred. e.g. PMP, CSM
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Microsoft Project Desktop and/or Microsoft Project Online, and PowerBI is helpful.
  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

    Annual salary range for this position is: $98,592.00 - $147,888.00

    Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
