Job Description

The Microchip Systems division is looking for an experienced professional to join the Planning Team at the GG Facility.

  • The Planner is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying out a minimum effective inventory based on capacity, demand or backlog, sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints.
  • The qualified individual will be responsible for providing the product line(s) with a weekly production plan (rolling 2 weeks) consistent with the capacity and customer demand/backlog.
  • Working in conjunction with Operations Management and Product Line Manager, the Planner is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels including safety stock levels.
  • Strong collaboration with the Product Line Manager, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.
  • This team member will also participate in continuous improvement projects in collaboration with other sites to maximize efficiency and standardized process.

Detailed Activities

  • Create work orders and manage jobs in an ERP environment in alignment with build plan, considering priorities to support customer backlog.
  • Read, understand and execute MRP results through Planned Orders.
  • Work closely with Purchasing for the requisition of needed materials to support the build plan and inventory level requirement.
  • Act as key member of bi-weekly operation reviews, including reporting various metrics, and collaborating with cross functional teams to effectively manage assigned product lines, and highlighting any issues that may cause delay in the completion of parts.
  • Manage impact to the production schedule of material shortages and quality issues as they arise
  • Manage and ensure that bottleneck capacity is always maximized with close coordination with Operations team.
  • Drive to improve completion dates of parts when they are not aligned with customer requests.
  • Manage intercompany shipment of parts from GG-SPM to another MCHP site.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and provide guidance on best practices
  • Work closely/collaborate with QA, Operations, Engg, Logistics team for the resolution of any issues that may cause delay in the assembly of the parts.
  • Manage Change Orders and Corrective Action/Preventive Action for assigned product line in collaboration with cross functional teams
  • Participate in Internal Audits and ensure compliance to all necessary laws, regulations, and corporate policies
  • Perform any other job related duties as identified

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-3 years production planning and scheduling experience
  • Model manufacturing environment desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or APICS certification desired
  • Experience in the use of ERP/MRP systems; Microsoft Dynamics Axapta experience preferred.
  • Experience leading process improvement projects
  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes as related to scheduling activities
  • Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with data reporting services like Tableau, PowerBi preferred
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication, organization skills
  • Manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $45,000-$117,000.*

  • Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
