Summary

Serves as a key clinical and technical expert responsible for the design, build, and ongoing enhancement of internal clinical applications, ensuring they meet the operational and clinical needs of the organization. Additionally, oversees EMR access and implementation for multiple providers across various sites, managing connection testing, user access, and system readiness. Leads the development of training materials, including guides and instructional videos, and conducts training sessions to ensure effective and consistent EMR use. Collaborates closely with nursing services, clinical teams, and IT to support both internal and external system initiatives and clinical workflows, maintaining alignment with Avel standards and ensuring system integrity across all platforms.

Essential Functions

  • Provides clinical and technical expertise and leadership for EMR-related initiatives, serving as a core member of project teams, committees, and professional practice groups.
  • Develops and provides subject matter expertise in the clinical workflows used by the organization.
  • Leads the design, build, implementation, and optimization of internal low-code clinical applications, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows and organizational standards.
  • Oversees EMR access and onboarding for multiple providers across various sites, including coordination of system connectivity testing and user setup.
  • Develops and delivers comprehensive training programs for clinical staff, faculty, students, and super users—including documentation, videos, and live sessions—using adult learning principles and tailored strategies.
  • Uses unit rounding, direct observation, and group discussions to gather feedback and recommend process or system improvements to enhance efficiency and documentation quality.
  • Collaborates with clinical users and IT to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues, ensuring system integrity and addressing process or individual user needs.
  • Plays a major role in multiple concurrent implementations, taking ownership of key tasks and ensuring they are managed in an organized and timely manner to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Develops and maintains effective communication channels with clinical staff, using various tools to provide updates and gather input on EMR and service line–related topics.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
  • Two to three years of clinical patient care experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Experience with clinical workflows required.
  • Experience with EMR template design in at least one EMR strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, And/or REGISTRATIONS

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse with one unrestricted state license is required.
  • Additional state Registered Nurse licensure will be required based off job assignment.
