Job Responsibilities
The Academic and Career Advisor facilitates the development of academic plans, provides career advising, offers registration assistance, and cultivates academic strategies with an assigned caseload of newly admitted students, students in their first semester of enrollment, and continuing students, all with the goal of promoting student success, persistence, retention, progression, and completion. This position maintains thirty (30) hours of advising availability per week, participates in on-going training provided by the Center and assigned academic department(s), facilitates early interventions, and regularly uses available technologies to ensure accurate and effective advising.
This position is located across various Midlands Technical College Campuses.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years in student services programs/academic advising or and achieved Master's degree. The preferred candidate will have direct academic advising experience in a community/technical college setting, including experience managing a caseload, leading interventions, and leveraging technologies to document academic advising and student support.
