This individual also must be able to synthesize and quantify relevant trauma data for quality improvement. The Manager works with the Trauma Medical Director and senior facility leadership in preparing for and maintaining designation by the Texas Department of State Health Services and/or verification by the American College of Surgeons.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; Bachelor's degree or educational plan to complete degree.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing; PALS or the Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), and
- Maintains current Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Course for Nurses (ATCN).
- Five (5) years of clinical trauma care in the hospital setting and three (3) of progressive supervisory/management experience.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently, and in collaboration with groups.
- Knowledge of computer software including: word, excel, power-point and outlook programs.
- Understanding of trauma scoring scales to include AIS and ISS.
- Accountable for overseeing the operations of the Trauma department.
- Monitors the quality of patient care delivered throughout the patient’s hospitalization.
- Collaborates with hospital unit leadership to develop performance improvement projects and education as needs are identified.
- Collaborates with the facility’s Trauma Service to ensure successful case reviews at the multidisciplinary level designed to improve the quality of trauma care.
- Ensures designation and/or verification requirements stipulated by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the American College of Surgeon are achieved or maintained.
- Collaborates with leaders to develop corrective action plan if gaps are identified and communicates the deficiencies and action plan to upper administration.
- Oversees and participates in community outreach and trauma injury prevention.
- Holds current membership in a national or regional trauma organization.
- Demonstrates evidence of participation in trauma committees at the Memorial Hermann System level and the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council level. Participation in state and national trauma organizations is strongly encouraged.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
