The AR Manager oversees the cash application process for all billing matters. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate posting of customer payments, reconciling accounts, resolving discrepancies, and supporting overall financial operations. The manager leads a team of cash application specialists and collaborates closely with Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, and Sales teams to maintain up-to-date and accurate customer account records.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily cash application activities, including posting of customer payments via ACH, wire transfers, checks, and credit cards.
  • Ensure payments are applied accurately and timely to customer accounts and corresponding invoices.
  • Manage the reconciliation of unapplied and unidentified payments and follow up with internal teams or customers for resolution.
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow trends and account aging reports to identify issues or opportunities for process improvement.
  • Supervise and train a team of cash application specialists, ensuring adherence to internal controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with the billing and AR teams to resolve payment disputes, misapplied payments, and short payments.
  • Implement process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers and internal departments to ensure accurate account status.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities related to cash receipts and AR reconciliations.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on cash application performance, KPIs, and outstanding issues to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including SOX and audit requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • 5+ years of experience in cash application or accounts receivable, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience in the fuel delivery, logistics, or energy industry (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of cash application systems, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), and banking portals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.


Compensation: $65,000 to $75,000 annually

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
