As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks an Assistant Director for Athletic Communications to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by leading athletic communications and storytelling initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics, this position works in partnership with athletics marketing to elevate the visibility and brand of Marian Athletics. The Assistant Director oversees day-to-day athletic communications operations, supervises the Sports Information Specialist, and develops strategic communication efforts that enhance engagement, promote Marian Athletics, and strengthen the student-athlete experience through effective storytelling and communication.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, targeting majors in communications, journalism, sports management, and sports marketing
  • Demonstrated success in collegiate athletic communications, sports information, sports marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising staff and managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard platforms and tools (e.g., Stat Crew/PrestoStats/Genius, Adobe Creative Suite, web CMS, and live streaming technologies).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of emerging trends in digital media, social media strategy, and content creation within collegiate athletics.
  • Ability to manage budgets and operate effectively within institutional resources.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
