Overview
TechOp Solutions International is seeking a FOIA Team Lead to support a federal customer in Washington, DC. The selected candidate will oversee a team of FOIA professionals responsible for request intake, tracking, records coordination, review activities, redactions, and response preparation.
This position serves as the primary liaison between contractor staff and Government leadership, ensuring consistent service delivery, quality standards, and effective workload management across FOIA operations.
The ideal candidate possesses strong federal FOIA experience, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of FOIA professionals supporting federal FOIA operations.
- Monitor daily workloads, assign tasks, establish priorities, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews of FOIA case processing activities.
- Coordinate with Government officials, legal counsel, records custodians, and program offices regarding FOIA requests and responses.
- Track workflow status, performance metrics, and operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FOIA statutes, regulations, agency policies, and established procedures.
- Support the processing of routine and complex FOIA requests, including records review and redaction activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer service.
- Provide mentoring, training, and guidance to team members.
- Participate in meetings, briefings, and status reviews with Government stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) programs.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading, supervising, or coordinating personnel.
- Demonstrated experience processing and managing FOIA requests within a federal environment.
- Experience coordinating with stakeholders, records custodians, legal personnel, and program offices.
- Experience using FOIA case management, records management, or workflow tracking systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat is required.
- Relevant Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat certifications are preferred but not required.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal civilian agencies or large-scale FOIA programs.
- Experience reviewing and processing complex FOIA requests and records.
- Prior team lead, supervisory, quality control, or program coordination experience.
- Knowledge of federal records management practices and information governance requirements.
- Experience developing workflow improvements, standard operating procedures, or quality assurance processes.
- FOIA-related training, certifications, or professional development coursework.
