About the Role
The Designer, Dickies Workwear Wovens will focus on woven tops, overshirts, jackets, shirt jackets, and outerwear. This role requires a strong understanding of workwear, utility-driven design, garment construction, fabric development, wash and finishing concepts, and the ability to translate consumer insights, trends, and brand heritage into commercially viable product.
How You’ll Contribute
• Design woven tops, overshirts, jackets, shirt jackets, and outerwear for the Dickies Workwear business.
• Create clear, accurate, and efficient tech packs that support fast product development and minimize revisions.
• Develop workwear details, durability features, functional trims, and utility-driven design elements.
• Research trends, consumer insights, and brand heritage to support commercially viable product development.
• Develop wash, dye, and finishing concepts.
• Partner with Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, and vendor partners.
• Manage multiple seasons, tech packs, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and AI-powered design tools.
• Prepare sketches, CADs, presentations, and storytelling materials.
• Support trims, packaging, branding details, and graphic applications as needed.
What You Bring to the Team
• 3-5+ years of apparel design experience, preferably in workwear, outdoor, utility, or menswear categories.
• Strong experience designing woven tops, overshirts, jackets, shirt jackets, and outerwear.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, patternmaking, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong fabric expertise, including twill, canvas, duck, denim, ripstop, flannel, and performance woven fabrics.
• Knowledge of workwear details, durability features, functional trims, and utility-driven design.
• Experience with workwear, industrial, outdoor, military, or utility-inspired brands preferred.
• Experience developing products for major retailers such as Walmart, Target, or similar channels preferred.
• Knowledge of garment washing, dyeing, and finishing techniques preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and AI-powered design tools.
• Strong sketching, CAD, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated, solution-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
