Position Overview

Sunset Health is seeking a Core Faculty Family Medicine Physician to join our newly designed, community-based Family Medicine Residency Program, with an anticipated program launch in July 2027. This position offers a unique opportunity to help build, shape, and grow a mission-driven graduate medical education program rooted in community engagement, health equity, and workforce development.

This role is intentionally structured as a career-advancing faculty position, with the opportunity to grow into an Assistant Program Director role as the program matures. The selected candidate will play a central role in curriculum development, resident education, faculty mentorship, and program leadership.

This position reports to the Residency Program Director.

As a Core Faculty member, you’ll be more than an educator, you’ll be a mentor, role model, and advocate for residents as they grow into confident, capable physicians. Your work will directly influence the quality of care in our community for years to come, while also helping to shape the culture and curriculum of a thriving residency program.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct clinical supervision and teaching for residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Lead didactic sessions, case conferences, and skills workshops that bring evidence-based medicine to life.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor, guiding residents in professional development, scholarly activity, and wellness.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty team to design, implement, and evaluate curriculum.
  • Participate in resident recruitment, selection, and onboarding.
  • Participate in scholarly activity, including quality improvement initiatives, research, or community health projects, in alignment with program and ACGME expectations.
  • Maintain your own clinical practice to model high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Deliver comprehensive outpatient family medicine care, including preventive, acute, and chronic disease management, in alignment with Sunset Health clinical standards.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and adhere to organizational, FQHC, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona
  • Commitment to academic medicine and resident education
  • Strong interest in community-based care and underserved populations
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
