Pa Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA), under the direction of the Medical Director and the onsite Supervising Physician provides and coordinates direct patient care and may act as a first assistant to the supervising surgeon. The PA provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative healthcare service, as delegated by a physician. The PA will report to the Total Joint/Spine Supervisor for all employee/employer issues regarding departmental and organizational operations. The PA consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees.

Minimum

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of a PA educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission (ARC) on Education for Physician Assistants (or its predecessor agency) OR current certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Desired

  • Recent Neurosurgery Clinical experience
  • One-year clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in an acute care facility
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Minimum

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current California Physician Assistant License
  • Current certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) if not graduate from an accredited PA school
  • Current AHA-HCP CPR recognition
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application
  • Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff and Finance Office

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Must have the confidence and experience to work independently with diverse patient populations and experience in accessing specialty referrals and community resources. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program

Desired

  • Recent Neurosurgery Clinical experience
  • One-year clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care facility
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Registered Nurse First Assistant Certification

Minimum

  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner Furnisher with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application
  • Meets Centers for Medi-Cal & Medicaid Services (CMS) criteria to bill Medicare.
  • Current AHA-HCP CPR recognition
  • Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff Office and Finance Office
