Position Summary

Fisica Space Vector is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and strategically minded Principal, Business Development to lead our growth initiatives, customer acquisition, and market expansion. As a key member of the Business Development leadership team, you will drive the strategic capture of new business within the Aerospace, Defense, and National Security sectors.

In this role, you will transition seamlessly between high-level strategic planning and hands-on execution. You will be responsible for building senior-level customer relationships, identifying and qualifying multi-million dollar pipelines, leading major capture and proposal efforts, and shaping our outbound marketing and brand presence to align with national security and Allied requirements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 2. Proposal Leadership & Execution

  • Strategic Growth & Pipeline Management
  • Pipeline Development: Identify, qualify, and mature a robust, multi-year pipeline of business opportunities across US Government agencies (DoD, DOE, Civil Space) and Tier 1 defense prime contractors.
  • Capture Leadership: Lead high-priority capture efforts, establishing win themes, competitive intelligence assessments, price-to-win strategies, and executing teaming agreements.
  • Executive Updates: Manage and facilitate weekly business development reviews, briefing executive leadership on pipeline health, proposal status, capture strategies, and resource requirements.
  • RFP/RFI Management: Oversee the end-to-end proposal lifecycle. Guide the bid/no-bid decision process, establish proposal schedules, and ensure all internal and external stakeholders meet critical milestones.
  • Content & Review: Actively contribute to proposal writing, technical volume integration, and pricing strategy. Lead Color Team reviews (Red/Gold teams) to ensure high-scoring, compliant, and compelling submittals.
  • Representative Alignment: Manage, support, and evaluate commissioned sales representatives and external consultants to ensure alignment with corporate growth objectives.
  • Customer & Industry Engagement
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain trusted-advisor relationships with key government program offices, research laboratories (e.g., AFRL, NRL, DARPA, RCC, Major test ranges), and prime contractor decision-makers.
  • Industry Presence: Represent Fisica Applied Technologies at major industry conferences, symposiums, and customer-facing briefings to position the company as a premier technology solution provider.
  • Marketing & Strategic Communications
  • Brand Strategy: Support corporate marketing initiatives, including website modernization, regular content generation, and social media presence, ensuring messaging aligns with ITAR, EAR, and CUI guidelines.
  • Collateral Development: Direct the creation of high-impact marketing collateral, white papers, and capability briefings tailored to specific customer domains.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Federal Contracting Expertise: Deep working knowledge of US Government acquisition processes, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS), and structured capture methodologies (e.g., Shipley).
  • Contractual & Business Acumen: Strong understanding of various contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M) and experience negotiating teaming agreements, NDAs, and subcontracts.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear value propositions for executive and customer audiences.
  • Tools & Systems: Proficiency in modern CRM platforms, capture management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Business Administration, or a related technical/business discipline is required. An MBA or advanced technical degree is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10-15+ years of progressive experience in business development, capture management, or program management within the Aerospace and Defense sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully capturing and winning $10M+ programs with DoD and aerospace prime contractors.
  • Existing network of contacts within DoD, prime contractors, and the defense innovation ecosystem.

Security & Compliance Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship. This is required due to the nature of our government contracts and handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and ITAR-controlled technical data (no exceptions).
  • Clearance: Active Secret clearance is highly preferred; eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret (or higher) security clearance is required.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role $143,000 - $266,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
