SVP Commercial Data, Insights & Strategy

Simmons Bank

It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!

We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.

Role Summary

The SVP Data, Insights & Analytics is responsible for ensuring strategy is grounded in rigorous, objective data and translated into clear, actionable decisions. This leader serves as a strategic partner to Commercial executive leadership, owning the end-to-end process of turning market, customer, and portfolio intelligence into prioritized actions, resource allocation decisions, and measurable outcomes.

This role is not a traditional reporting or request-driven analytics function. Instead, it operates as a decision engine, proactively framing choices, delivering clear recommendations, and enabling leadership to make faster, more confident strategic and operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Decision Support & Recommendation Ownership

  • Frame critical business questions as structured decision problems (options, trade-offs, risks, and upside)
  • Lead development of clear, actionable recommendations across key topics such as:
    • Market selection and expansion
    • Customer segmentation and targeting
    • Coverage and staffing models
    • Capital and resource allocation
  • Serve as a thought partner to Commercial executive leadership on both strategy formulation and execution
  • Drive decision clarity and alignment across leadership teams

Market, Customer Segment & Competitive Intelligence

  • Lead market sizing, segmentation, and prioritization using internal and third-party data sources
  • Identify where the bank can competitively win, and where it should not compete
  • Deliver actionable insights on customer needs, behaviors, and profitability drivers
  • Translate market intelligence into clear go-to-market implications, including:
    • Coverage model design
    • Industry/vertical focus
    • Investment priorities

Portfolio & Growth Driver Analytics

  • Analyze portfolio performance to identify true drivers of growth, profitability, and client primacy
  • Develop scenario-based analyses outlining requirements to achieve strategic outcomes (e.g., staffing changes, pricing adjustments, product expansion)
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and capital allocation with rigorous, data-backed trade-off analysis
  • Identify and quantify opportunities for profitable growth and optimization

Strategy Execution & Performance Enablement

  • Translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes, KPIs, and scorecards
  • Establish a consistent leadership cadence linking:
    • Strategy
    • Decision-making
    • Performance tracking
  • Ensure metrics reflect strategic intent, avoiding disconnected or purely operational reporting
  • Monitor performance against strategic goals and recommend course corrections

Governance, Standards & Operating Model

  • Define and govern core Commercial strategy metrics, assumptions, and definitions
  • Establish a scalable operating model that prioritizes decision-oriented work over ad hoc reporting
  • Set clear intake guardrails and prioritization frameworks
  • Partner cross-functionally (Finance, Marketing, Credit, Treasury, Operations) to drive alignment, data integrity, and adoption
  • Build organizational capability around data-driven decision-making

Leadership & Team Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team spanning strategy, analytics, and insights
  • Foster a culture of intellectual rigor, accountability, and proactive problem solving
  • Elevate the role of data and insights as a core strategic asset across Commercial Banking
  • Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across complex, matrixed environments

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, consulting, or financial services, with significant leadership experience
  • Proven track record of translating data and analysis into business decisions and measurable outcomes
  • Deep expertise in Commercial Banking, including portfolio dynamics, client segmentation, and growth strategy (preferred)
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment
  • Exceptional problem structuring, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and operating in complex organizational environments
