If so, let’s talk! The Nashville Banner is hiring a part-time social media producer to help expand our reach and deliver high-value content to our online audience. It’s a part-time gig, meaning it includes the flexibility to pursue other professional and creative endeavors. We’re looking for a Nashville-based creative with an eye for design and a proven track record of creating high-quality social content.
Location: Nashville, TN (Remote within the Nashville area)
Reports to: Director of Audience
Employment type: Part-time, contract, 6 months
Hours: Approximately 15 hours a week
Pay: $33/hour
The Nashville Banner is a nonprofit newsroom delivering community-informed journalism that engages and empowers people across Middle Tennessee. We’re in the early stages of building and executing an audience growth strategy for the Banner, experimenting with new ways to meet people where they are — that includes social media.
About the role
The social media producer will work closely with our Director of Audience to fine-tune our online presence and find bold, innovative ways to bring local news directly to the people who need it.
Primary responsibilities include producing content and managing engagement for the Banner’s social accounts, including BlueSky, Instagram and TikTok.
What you’ll do
- Manage day-to-day posting and engagement on the Banner’s social media accounts
- Collaborate with reporters to produce content for all social platforms, including video for Instagram and TikTok
- Identify trends, relevant news and other opportunities in the social media space
- Maintain awareness and understanding of emerging social media platforms and best practices
- Stay up-to-date on Nashville news
Preferred qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a social media capacity
- Graphic design knowledge
- Experience editing photos and short-form video
- Strong written and digital skills
- Enthusiasm for the Nashville Banner’s mission and a full grasp of our community-first approach
- Journalism experience a plus!
Compensation and benefits
- Pay: $33/hour
- Employment type: Contract, 6 months
- Hours: ~15/week, daily (weekdays)
