Our Scrum Masters / Team Coaches guide, mentor, and empower Agile teams at Blue Cross of Idaho to achieve high performance and deliver customer value within our SAFe operating model. Acting as servant leaders and coaches, they support teams that may use Scrum, Kanban, or other Agile ways of working, while helping align team execution to Agile Release Train (ART) objectives, organizational priorities, and continuous improvement practices. They collaborate with business and technology partners to strengthen delivery, transparency, and team effectiveness.
To Be Considered For This Opportunity, You Have
Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience serving as a Scrum Master, Team Coach, or Agile practitioner supporting software delivery teams, including coaching teams and stakeholders in Agile and SAFe practices within a scaled delivery environment.
Education / Certification: Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- International Degree equivalency
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or more advanced coaching-oriented Agile / SAFe certification + 2 years additional relevant experience
- Associate’s Degree + 2 years additional experience
- (Two years’ relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
We Would Also Love It If You Had
- Knowledge and use of modern engineering and delivery practices such as automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, DevOps, and built-in quality
- Experience supporting teams using multiple Agile approaches, including Scrum, Kanban, and other Lean-Agile practices
- History of continued and recent education in Scrum, SAFe, and team coaching through training, conferences, communities of practice, and self-study
- Experience using Agile delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage team flow, delivery visibility, and work tracking
- Experience using AI tools to support Agile teams through coaching preparation, workflow insights, facilitation support, knowledge sharing, or continuous improvement while applying sound judgment and responsible use practices
In This Role, We Will Ask You To
- Coordinate, facilitate, and support Agile planning and execution activities at the team and ART levels, including preparation for and participation in PI Planning and other SAFe events
- Coach and mentor teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on effective Lean-Agile execution, team practices, and continuous improvement within the SAFe framework
- Develop and strengthen Scrum Master / Team Coach and Product Owner partnerships while contributing meaningfully to the organization’s Lean-Agile maturity and role adoption
- Lead and support teams through its delivery lifecycle by facilitating team events, improving backlog readiness with the Product Owner, and enabling effective planning, review, and retrospection for Scrum or flow-based teams
- Remove impediments or guide teams in resolving impediments by engaging the right partners, escalating when appropriate, and addressing systemic blockers to flow
- Assess and coach teams and the broader organization in the effective use of SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and Lean-Agile practices to strengthen maturity, improve collaboration, and increase predictability, quality, and value delivery
- Leverage flow metrics such as capacity, predictability, throughput, and cycle time to help teams and the broader organization inspect, adapt, and improve delivery outcomes
- Improve transparency by helping communicate team progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to stakeholders and partners across the organization
- Facilitate healthy discussion, collaborative decision-making, and constructive conflict resolution across teams and stakeholders
- Help teams achieve higher levels of delivery maturity by improving ways of working, team norms, quality practices, and flow efficiency
- Build a trusting and safe environment where issues can be raised openly and addressed with respect, accountability, and a focus on learning and problem solving
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for the level II is $106,762 - $160,144 and the level III is $131,541 - $197,311. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance).
The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, travel requirements, internal equity, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
