Examination

Appraisal (Weight %): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant’s training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the job based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and/or rating of application.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Should an oral examination be necessary, the oral examination will be weighted at 100%. A preliminary screen of applicants may limit the number advancing to the oral exam to approximately the top 15 candidates.

Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Business of Public Administration or a closely related degree and three (3) years increasing experience in a managerial, administrative or staff capacity performing administrative tasks involving budget preparation, personnel analysis, reporting systems, data processing, or in closely related work requiring substantial knowledge of statistical, fiscal, or accounting methods. A Master's Degree in Business or Public Administration may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

License: Valid Class III California Motor Vehicle Operator's License

Additional Information

Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

A background check may be conducted for this classification.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Department of Human Services. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission. Candidates are encouraged to indicate acceptable geographical locations in which they would accept employment on their application form. Candidates MUST be willing to travel to these locations (areas/district offices).
