Position Summary
Baristas are the face of our cafe operation. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, preparing high-quality beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. The ideal candidate is a multitasking team player with a positive attitude and a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Welcome customers warmly, take orders accurately, answer questions about the menu, and handle cash/digital transactions efficiently using the POS system.
- Beverage & Food Preparation: Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages (coffee, espresso drinks, cold-pressed juices, smoothies) and grab-and-go breakfast items (pastries, sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads) according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation: Maintain a spotless work environment. This includes wiping down counters, washing dishes, cleaning espresso machines, emptying trash cans, ensuring the dining area is tidy for guests, and completing opening and closing duties and checklists.
- Inventory & Stocking: Restock coffee beans, syrups, pastries, cups, and napkins throughout the shift. Alert the Café Lead when inventory levels are running low.
- Allergen Awareness: Know menu ingredients and common allergens, follow procedures to prevent cross-contact, and accurately communicate allergen and ingredient information to customers.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist the grab-and-go and deli areas and other stations during busy periods or as directed by the Café Lead.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to all local health, safety, and food handling regulations.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Cafe or deli experience is welcome, but not required. We'll train you.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and colleagues.
- Basic knowledge of computers and POS systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be ServSafe Food Handler Certified or be able to acquire one.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Comfortable working in varying temperature environments (coolers, freezers, kitchens)

Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $17.00 - $20.00 + tips
