Director - HRBP

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking a Director, Human Resources / HR Business Partner to join its growing team in Staten Island, NY. This is a highly visible, strategic role supporting senior leadership and aligning people strategy with organizational and program goals during a period of rapid growth. In this role, you will lead HRBP initiatives across organizational design, workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and leadership coaching, while partnering with HR Operations and Centers of Excellence to drive consistency and support change initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong HRBP experience, sound judgment, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. - Bachelor's degree required; degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant HR Business Partner experience supporting senior leaders.
- Proven experience advising on organizational design, workforce planning, talent strategy, and change management initiatives.
- Strong employee relations experience, with the ability to manage complex matters, investigations, and performance issues with discretion.
- Strong understanding of federal and multi-state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience leveraging HR data and metrics to inform decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive topics and tailor messaging across audiences.
- Prior experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization preferred.
- Ability to work onsite in Staten Island five days a week.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
The salary for this role is $100,000 - $110,000 per year.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
