Donor Stewardship & Engagement Specialist
Location: Remote
Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000
Reports to: Senior Vice President of Charitable Planned Giving
Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Charitable Planned Giving, the Donor Stewardship & Engagement Specialist supports, implements, and directs an integrated and comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program that promotes meaningful interaction, recognition, and connection with planned giving donors and advisors, while supporting the administration of realized estate commitments and leveraging relationship opportunities that advance Heifer Foundation’s strategic priorities.
What You'll Do
Donor Stewardship Planning & Program Execution - 35%
- Proactively support the SVP and planned gift managers in the design and execution of stewardship plans for donors, top prospects, and advisors.
- Execute stewardship plans for WILL Society members, including composing and sending donor communications and developing stewardship content.
- Evaluate the quality and impact of stewardship plans and recommend improvements to strengthen donor engagement and program effectiveness.
Donor & Advisor Engagement - 15%
- Provide excellent customer service to donors, advisors, and other stakeholders, ensuring timely, thoughtful, and relationship-centered communication.
- Serve as a creative resource in identifying and developing new methods of donor and advisor communications and engagement.
- Advise the SVP on donor engagement strategies and stewardship best practices based on analysis of donor activity, trends, and program outcomes.
Estate Gift Administration Support - 35%
- Support the Estate and Gift Administration Manager with the processing of estate gifts, including gathering documentation, drafting and sharing correspondence with stakeholders, and securing information for internal records.
- Ensure all related documentation and information is appropriately maintained to support estate administration and stewardship efforts.
Donor Data, Reporting & Collaboration - 15%
- Manage accurate donor data, ensuring all stewardship and estate processing communications are entered into CRM.
- Collaborate with the Prospect Development Strategist and internal departments to support donor identification, stewardship coordination, and resolution of donor questions.

Communication & Relationship Management. You exhibit excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, advisors, and stakeholders.
Data & Systems Proficiency. You work comfortably with CRM systems to track interactions, manage donor information, and support stewardship and estate processes.
Collaboration & Values Alignment. You work effectively across teams and embody Heifer Foundation's principles of equitable treatment, learning and adaptation, self-awareness, human-centered leadership, and open communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct and varied areas of donor stewardship, development, or communications, and/or estate administration or planned giving, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with donors and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends to develop and implement effective donor strategies.
- Ability to collaborate with internal teams.
