Friends of South High Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of students at Minneapolis South High School. The Foundation supports academic, cultural, and extracurricular programs that are not covered by basic school district funding. Its work helps expand opportunities for students through innovative projects, enrichment activities, and community engagement. The Foundation is funded by contributions, grants, fundraisers, special donations, and endowments, and is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) corporation. Team members collaborate closely with school and community stakeholders to positively impact students’ lives.

Role Description

The Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Minneapolis, MN, responsible for assisting in the day-to-day coordination of the Foundation’s administrative, financial, and programmatic activities. This role oversees office operations, assists in maintaining records and databases, supports finance and accounts payable and receivable, and ensures compliance with organizational policies and nonprofit regulations. The Operations Manager coordinates logistics for meetings, events, and fundraisers; manages vendor and partner relationships; and provides support to the Board and committees, including preparing reports and assisting with publications. The role works closely with volunteers and school staff to align operational priorities with the Foundation’s mission and program goals. The Operations Manager also identifies and implements process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
  • Experience with basic financial processes such as budgeting, expense tracking, and reporting, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency with office software and databases (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, CRM or donor management tools). Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, meeting materials, and professional correspondence.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with board members, school staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on building efficient systems and processes.
  • Experience supporting events, fundraisers, or community programs is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of or interest in nonprofit compliance, governance, and 501(c)(3) best practices.
  • Commitment to educational equity and the mission of supporting Minneapolis South High School students.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
